I was fortunate enough to learn the basic of SEO from a close friend. He taught me everything I needed to know and I managed to bring my company’s ranking to page 1 on Google for several keywords. Within the first year of being ranked on google, we have managed to increase our sales revenue by 25% from SEO marketing alone.

There are tonnes of SEO materials and thousands of SEO gurus you can find on the internet. Some of them share too little and others share way too much information. In this guide, I will attempt to write down what matters and the steps that I took to rank on page one for my business page. If you are the first name that appears on that list. Chances are they will click on your link and visit your premises. This immediately drives traffic and potential buyers to your site! If your brand has been providing the best content, product or services related to the specific keywords, your brand becomes synonymous with the keyword.

Why can’t the search engines figure out my site without SEO?

There are millions and millions of websites available on the internet. Google has the job to crawl through all these sites and match that to their relevant keywords. How Google does that? They are just really really smart. They have a super secret specialised team who builds algorithms that ranks websites to their relevant keywords as fairly as they know how to.

As SEO marketer, it is our job to understand these algorithms as best as we can and create our website in a manner that allows Google recognise the usefulness of our contents for their users. There are key factors that Google priorities when ranking our sites and by addressing these priorities it gives us a higher chance to be ranked on Google.

Google is trying to find a needle in a haystack. It is our job to stand out to be found.

Can I do SEO for myself?

Yes, you can! SEO is super easy to understand. If I can manage it, anybody can.

Before you venture into SEO you need to know this. SEO marketing is an ever-changing landscape. To reach the front page of google takes hard work, but to maintain your spot at the top takes dedication.

The question is SHOULD YOU DO SEO yourself?

SEO is only a fraction of online marketing. Yet, to maintain your presence on Google in itself is a full-time job. Do you have time to invest in doing SEO on your own or is it more worthwhile to engage an online marketing agency to manage this for you while you invest your time more wisely elsewhere.

What I wished I knew before starting on SEO?

Have a mentor.

The number 1 shortcut to anything in life is to have a good mentor. He will tell you exactly what worked for him and all you have to do is follow his instructions.

Be patient.

When I first got started on SEO, I was overly excited to get things done quickly. This resulting in a lot of mistakes made along the way. Get all your materials ready before executing them and not scramble for them along the way.

Have faith

You are venturing into something completely new in your life. Don’t doubt whether the strategies work or not because they eventually do. Don’t give up when you don’t see immediate results, SEO takes time.

SEO can be a fun and therapeutic process. Don’t concern yourself with the results. Instead, concern yourself with creating the best contain anyone can find about your product on the internet. Google will reward your efforts.
